To help parents and taxpayers understand (a) what schools are in their neighborhood and/or (b) which elected representatives are tied to which schools, I’ve mapped all 40 Jersey City Public Schools (along with accompanying basic profile information, as listed on the JCPS Website) against 2 map layers:
- Jersey City Ward (each ward is represented by a Council representative:
- Rolando Lavarro Jr. – At Large (represents entire city)
- Pastor Joyce Watterman – At Large (represents entire city)
- Daniel Rivera – At Large (represents entire city)
- Denise Ridley– Ward A
- Mira Prinz-Arey Ward B – Ward B
- Richard Boggiano – Ward C
- Councilman Michael Yun – Ward D
- James Solomon, Ward E Councilperson – Ward E
- Jermaine Robinson – Ward F
- NJ Legislative District (each district is represented by 2 state assembly reps and 1 state senator). Jersey City covers 2 legislative districts:
- District 31 (South Jersey City & Bayonne)
- Assembly Rep: Angela McKnight
- Assembly Rep: Nick Chiaravalotti
- State Senator: Sandra Cunningham
- District 33 (North Jersey City, Hoboken, Weekhawken, part of Union City)
- Assembly Rep: Annette Chaparro
- Assembly Rep: Raj Mukherji
- State Senator: Brian Stack
- District 31 (South Jersey City & Bayonne)
