New Jersey Together

A multi-faith coalition in northern New Jersey that challenges ordinary people to identify problems facing their neighborhoods and city. NJ Together connects individuals and organizations to multiply their power and mobilize people to bring about creative and effective change. I serve on the Strategy Team of Jersey City Together. My parish, St. Aedan's - the St. Peter's University Church, is a member congregation.

St. Aedan's is a community of faith led by Jesuit priests who bring Ignatian spirituality, social justice / faith works, and Catholic tradition to the heart of Jersey City in McGinley Square. I attend St. Aedan's and help lead the social justice ministry there.

Our Moon is Full

This is a blog written by West Side resident Amy Wilson. She is a good friend, fellow Jersey City resident, and professional artist whose work is on permanent display at the New York Public Library (just one notable highlight). Our Moon is Full is about living (in Jersey City), with a specific focus on the West Side neighborhood.

Team Wilderness

Team Wilderness is an outdoors summer excursion program for Jersey City’s high school-aged youth. It uses an experiential educational model to teach teamwork, leadership, and character. It was founded by Snyder High School history teacher Steve Cunningham. Team Wilderness is a 501(c)(3) and I serve on the board of trustees.

Bambino Chef

Bambino Chef is a small business with a huge, civic heart located in downtown Jersey City. Bambino Chef is all about making healthy cooking fun, accessible, and tangible for kids. Chef Rene (the owner/operator) also offers opportunities for kids to give back...like the annual "sandwiches for the homeless" initiative whereby kids help make sandwiches that are then distributed to local shelters and food pantries.

Barrow Mansion

A downtown home for non-profits in Jersey City. The Barrow Mansion Development Corporation’s mission is to be a focal point for inclusive, empowering community service and to preserve and enhance the historic Barrow Mansion. I was a board trustee for Jersey City Children's Theater (now closed) and our home was in the Barrow Mansion.

IndieGrove

There are many co-working spaces available in Jersey City, but IndieGrove is (in my opinion) the best place to connect and network. Located at the heart of downtown near the Grove Street PATH, it is owned and operated by small business owner Zahra Amanpour.
