Civic Parent — Accounting Pipeline & CTE
Helping government, education, and accounting industry stakeholders support tomorrow's CPAs by engaging the Career and Technical Education (CTE) framework.
New Jersey supports a federally-funded Career and Technical Education (CTE) framework with three business-focused "majors" (aka career pathways). The accounting profession can engage it strategically to support the pipeline challenge. This section examines the data, the framework, and what more intentional engagement could look like.

About
Brigid D'Souza is a CPA and the founder of Harborstead Advisory. Her research into New Jersey's Career and Technical Education landscape began as a practical question to better understand how to support the accounting pipeline challenge using public education data she had used for years for Civic Parent. What started as an exploration to support workforce development for her students has grown into a sustained examination of how the accounting profession, public schools, and state policy do, and do not, connect. She has taught accounting and tax at the college and graduate level and has spent more than a decade writing about public finance through Civic Parent.
